Tam Dinh.

I am a Registered Psychologist and I have over 20 years of professional experience. During that time I have worked with diverse population groups and across a wide range of services, including acute and community mental health, drug and alcohol, gambling, secondary school, community and adolescent health.

I enjoy working with people and I respect the uniqueness of each individual person I am with. I take the therapeutic space seriously and I am often humbled by the trust that is placed in me as their guide as people give themselves the permission to go into the depth of their own unique life situations and struggles. Often as a witness, I cannot help being touched by their personal experience which not only enriches me as a psychologist but as a person also.

In addition to attempting to bring compassion and a sense of shared humanity to the therapeutic space, I also try to adopt a holistic approach where a person’s thinking, feeling, behaviour and physical experience can be attended to and integrated.

I work with adults and young people from the age of 16. My areas of special interest include: stress, anxiety, depression, substance use issues, life transition and adjustment difficulties, personal development, difficulty regulating emotions, managing maladaptive coping and relating patterns, managing personality based sensitivity issues (separation, esteem, and safety), grief and loss, work stress/injury, self awareness and acceptance, anger, and assertiveness.

My therapeutic approach

My therapeutic approach is drawn from Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodrama, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
