About Me:

I have enjoyed a rich 30+ years working career as a primary school teacher, primary school principal and secondary school counsellor and part of the Psychology4Life team.

I am a registered Counselling Psychologist. I enjoy meeting people and I bring a genuine and positive approach to each meeting. I am very aware of the need to be client focused and so I employ an empathic and active listening style. I understand that every person has a unique set of life experiences and a personal story to tell. I enjoy working with people who have met challenges along the way and I find it satisfying to assist them to find their solutions to their problems.

My training and experience enable me to work with a number of therapeutic styles. I like to assist clients to prioritise what is important in life, differentiate between what can and cannot be controlled within life, make changes where possible, commit to their important values and to themselves, and to engage in a positive life strategy. In addition I like to work with my clients to explore ways to manage unhelpful thoughts and feelings.

I also offer clients the opportunity to develop the skills of mindfulness, which allow people to live in the present moment without dwelling unnecessarily on the past or the future. Mindful meditation is widely reported to be effective in the alleviation of stress, anxiety and depression.

As a school counselling psychologist I have developed a specialist area of interest in child and adolescent work with school and educational issues. I have extensive experience assisting young people and their families to manage bullying, transition from primary to secondary school, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) issues relating to school, educational and cognitive assessments, anxiety, depression and stress management.

I am available on:

Mondays and Tuesdays (day and evening) to meet with adults, adolescents and children to assist with anxiety, depression, stress management, mindfulness skills, and school issues.
